Luath said:
Cut the cards Cesar, we don’t have all day!
Four bleeding hours, how long can it take?
So many countries, so many names
and to the victors go the spoils
I don’t want to talk about fourteen-points,
I don’t want to talk about David Lloyd George,
It seems to me to win this peace…we must prepare for war
Cesar said:
How should I know Luath, well I’m not sure?
I am after all a peacemaker’s chauffeur
Seems like the whole of this world’s been turned on its head -
and no one hear can speak for the dead
I don’t want to talk about fourteen-points,
I don’t want to talk about David Lloyd George,
It seems to me to win this peace…
Cesar said:
I’ll call you Luath and raise you ten more
Did your man happen to mention how they’d settle the score?
There’s them in the east, they’ll have something to say
and some old soldiers won’t fade away
So many loud voices shaking the floor
Can’t imagine what they have in store –
It seems to me to win this peace…we must prepare for war.
Luath said:
Neither Foch, nor Poincaire, nor Clemenceau,
have told me themselves how it will all go.
Surely some of the rumours are at least half real -
but never mind Cesar - it’s your deal.
So many loud voices shaking the floor
Can’t imagine what they have in store -
It seems to me to win this peace…we must prepare for war.
