HATE
(P. Joseph & J. Wilson)
© Ochiltree 136 Publishing (2000)
And I have tried, in my way, but it just keeps getting tougher every day
I know it seems excessive, at times I lack perspective
But I can be so damned defensive of my ways
And all the time the colours that you'll see,
Are shaped by what you're taught, not what you see
The more I look the more I do believe
That this thing I'm running from, is that hate I feel for me
I have walked, straight into a fire and I won't let you
have so many reasons to hate me
My only desire is not to let you go on
What's in a word? What's in a thought?
You either have or you have not: the natural ability,
Not scared of what it is you see about yourself,
If I show it to you, will you show it to me?
You must be a rock, showing the patience of Job
And I must a Judas amongst you, just digging for gold
You must be one more Daniel in the lion's den
And I must be?
Stop it right there, these hands have worked deep into Mother Earth
I don't feel the need to prove my worth when I have walked...
