MAYOR OF MELANCHOLIA
( J. Wilson/Sundance Kid)

I am a wistful weather-beaten wanderer with a penchant for the blues

The sullen song has been my chosen theme

Green valleys and scenic hilltops leave me largely under-whelmed

Give me granite grey, industry and steam

Sad reflection is my game as I roam from town to town

Reaching for low-lying clouds, to pull me through the day

Now I'm standing in the glorious sun, longing for rain

You may be queen of the slipstream baby

But as the mayor of melancholia I reign

Pouring over a water-damaged copy of down and out in Paris and London

Getting all dressed up to come completely undone

You want to talk about the weather -

and whether there'll be some weather - you feel there's some doubt

How very tragic don't let the door hit your ass on your way out

Sad reflection is my game as I roam from pillar to post

Reaching for low-lying clouds, to pull me through the day

Now I'm standing in the glorious sun, praying for rain

You may be queen of the slipstream baby

But as the mayor of melancholia I reign
