WILSON LIVE IN GLASGOW 

Jason and the lads had an incredible time at the O2 ABC in Glasgow on 23 January with Scottish folk-icon Dick Gaughan, legendary English fiddler Dave Swarbrick and Scotland's own 'I-Threes', The Bevvy Sisters. More on this show (and future shows) shortly.

 

WILSON & SWARBRICK: THE LION RAMPANT (coming soon!) 

Jason and Swarb are currently in the studio finishing their first collaborative effort entitled The Lion Rampant. The album, which includes some traditional numbers as well as some brand new pieces, should be released sometime in 2010. Stay tuned for details. 

DAVE SWARBRICK: A major player in the British folk music renaissance of the 1960s, Dave Swarbrick has recorded and performed with some of the genre’s true pioneers, including Ewan MacColl, Martin Carthy and the Ian Campbell Folk Singers. Swarbrick is perhaps best known for his contribution as fiddler of folk-rock legends Fairport Convention, whose Liege and Leif is considered by many to be ‘the most important folk album of all-time’. GUELPH MERCURY NOMINATES WILSON FOR ‘TOP 40 UNDER 40’

WILSON ON ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR NATIONAL MUSIC MUSEUM ALONGSIDE SENATOR PAMELA WALLIN AND OTHERS

Jason was the lone professional musician on the advisory committee for the ‘Cantos at the King Eddy’ project in Calgary that will soon serve as the nation’s music museum. Part education research centre, part museum, part recording studio, part live music venue, this newly refurbished and upgraded 80,000-square-foot facility will create a new space for innovative and creative programs for people of all ages. We are delighted to announce that The Peacemaker’s Chauffeur won ‘Top Caribbean-Oriented Jazz Album’ at this year's Canadian Reggae Music Awards, adding to the prestigious Juno Award nomination in the category of ‘Best Reggae Recording’. This is Jason’s second Juno nomination (Jonah was nominated in 2001). The album was also nominated for the Reggae Music Achievement Awards in the categories ‘Best Male Vocal’ and ‘Best Reggae Album’. The popularity of Jason’s ‘Keele Street’ continues to grow and has now been featured in a Canadian independent movie, on American television, and on a recent episode of Global Television’s Da Kink in My Hair. HERITAGE AWARD FOR LORD STANLEY:
THE MAN BEHIND THE CUP

The Society of North American Historians and Researchers, in conjunction with the Black Hockey and Sports Hall of Fame have awarded Kevin Shea and Jason Wilson a Heritage Award For Outstanding Sports Research And Writing for their work, Lord Stanley: The Man Behind the Cup (Fenn Publishing, 2006). The book is still going strong and remains in hardcover for the upcoming Christmas season.
